The following mica tape technical papers feature Verretec’s VerreShield (TM) glass fabrics manufactured with Verretec’s proprietary GlasFab (TM) zero twist, direct finish process.

  • In the paper titled: Application of Flat Glass Backed Mica Paper Tape to VPI’ed High Voltage Stator Coils, Verretec’s VerreShield (TM) glass fabrics are referred to as “Flat Glass”.

  • In the paper titled: Impact of new motor and generator insulation systems, Verretec’s VerreShield (TM) glass fabrics are referred to as PowerFab or PoroFab.

  • In the paper titled: NEW INSULATION TECHNOLOGY IMPACTS GENERATOR DESIGN, Verretec’s VerreShield (TM) glass fabrics are referred to as PowerFab or PoroFab.

  • In the paper titled: Preliminary Evaluation of Flat Glass Backed Mica Paper Tape for High Voltage Coil Groundwall Insulation using Vacuum-Pressure- Impregnation, Verretec’s VerreShield (TM) glass fabrics are referred to as Flat Glass.

VerreShield (TM) glass fabrics have revolutionized the High Voltage Power Generation and Motor Industries by enabling the design and build of more compact and efficient devices.

This results from increasing the specific power output; optimizing and saving of raw materials and production costs; operation at lower conductor temperatures; and extending the maintenance intervals. The main feature responsible for this is the reduced main wall insulation thickness allowing for improved heat transport from the conductor towards the iron core and the resulting improvement to the power to weight ratio.
